We have an entire department dedicated to making commercial spaces feel better inside. We’ve been doing residential work for so long, that’s what a lot of people think we do all the time.
Meanwhile, our commercial team is busy designing systems for new construction, retrofitting systems into historic buildings, repairing and replacing heating and cooling systems in schools, shops, restaurants, government buildings, and public service structures.
Recently, we replaced the entire heating and cooling system in McLane Black Lake Fire Station 91.
Station 91 serves as the McLane headquarters, housing six pieces of apparatus (vehicles). All five of the McLane Black Lake Fire Department stations serve an 84-square-mile response area.
Bill Schmidtke, head of our commercial division, said Capital served as the general contractor on the project and replaced “multiple variable flow heat pump systems that were beyond their functional life” with new systems. They also made alterations to the station’s administrative areas to provide better temperature controls and improved ventilation controls in the training rooms.”
Travis Johnson, one of our commercial technicians, added that “working with Chief Johnson and Assistant Chief Ambrose was a great experience. They were easy to work with but also firm on what their expectations were.”
When we do a project like this one, it’s important to get a clear idea about what the needs and expectations are for the final product. Before we make any recommendations, we consult with our commercial clients to find out what is happening with the current system, how old it is, what frustrations or other pain points they have, and how they need the new system to function.
Especially in a high-pressure environment like a fire station, we want to make sure that the heating and cooling system is reliable—so they can spend their time training, planning, and serving the public.
Thank you for all the work you do to keep our communities safe, McLane Black Lake Fire Stations!
