Home Systems That Work Better
How We
Do Business
At Capital Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric, we want you to be comfortable in your space. So we focus on helping you find the solution that’s right for you and on making your upgrade or repair as streamlined as possible.
We do that by listening, making expert assessments, offering informed recommendations and advice, and using our experience and technical expertise to install, maintain, and repair your home or commercial systems.
We aim to earn your trust by building a business based on honesty, friendliness, and expert service that focuses on getting you exactly what you need.
Our Historic Roots
William Schmidtke and his business partner purchased Tobin Sheet Metal in downtown Olympia in 1937. The two German immigrants renamed the business Capital Sheet Metal. They started by building copper roofs and gutters and even hand-formed the original copper leaves for the Tivoli fountain replica on the Capitol campus.
Once they started making custom ductwork, they became a heating and cooling contractor, launching us on our current path.
William grew the business with deep dedication over the next three decades. William’s son, Larry, and his wife, Dianne, diversified Capital’s services, expanding to residential and commercial heating and cooling, air duct cleaning, and system repair and maintenance. The company continued creating custom sheet metal work.
In 2007, Bill, Chuck, and Dean took joint ownership and expanded into plumbing and electrical services in 2020.
How We Engage
We serve homes and businesses throughout Thurston and Mason counties and south Pierce County—the same places we live and play. We plan to continue giving back to the South Sound for another three generations, and beyond.
We give back to this community we love by supporting many local arts organizations and nonprofits that are dedicated to improving access to shelter and food for students and families.
