South Sound 911 is a consolidation of the emergency response services of a number of partners: Pierce County, West Pierce Fire & Rescue, and the cities of Tacoma, Lakewood, Fife, and Puyallup.
The new agency is already rolling out operations and will complete construction of its Tacoma-based, state-of-the-art facility in 2021.
Starting in May, Capital Heating & Cooling will be installing a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) heat pump system throughout the entire three-story public safety communications center.
Many of our commercial customers have been opting for these high-efficiency systems to keep operating costs down. According to the General Services Administration, VRF systems can reduce your HVAC energy bills by 30% or more.
We’ve installed them in a variety of buildings, from schools to apartment complexes to office buildings. They work equally well in large, public spaces––such as a school cafeteria or vaulted office lobby––and more contained spaces––such as an apartment or classroom.
In addition to a full heating and cooling system, we’ll also install specialized systems for a large computer server room and the dispatch center to protect South Sound 911’s tech equipment. It’s important to keep computer rooms cool so equipment functions optimally. But it’s equally important to keep humidity at the right level.
When humidity levels are too low in these spaces, it increases the risk of static electricity, a serious fire hazard. So we focus not only on temperature control, but humidity levels. Humidification controls will ensure these rooms don’t get too dry.
